My Interesting Fact About Muslims
My LA, and SS teacher; Mr. R, wants us to write more about our topics, or alot about a Fact or a Statement. So my fact is here. There are 11.5 million Muslims in the U.S. I have lived in the U.S for most of my life and had never known that there were 11.5 million Muslims living there! If you would have told me that while I lived there, I would of probably said “Wow,” and of just walked away. But now since I am in a country with many Muslims, it is different. Here Muslims typically wear a national dress with an Abiya or a Thobe but in the United States I had never of heard or seen people wearing their National Dress, ( But the sad thing is if an American or someone else would of seen a person with their National Dress on, they would of probably stared at the person and maybe even of made a face. ) living here though, I see people wearing them all the time. Also in the States we don’t have Mosques or souqs everywhere like here. In fact, if someone had of even known if there was a Muslim in theor class, school, or neighbor the first thing that would of went in their mind would of been, “They must be a terrorist,” but that is absolutly not true at all. I have met so many nice and kind people that are Muslims, and they are just like you and me. So overall I think the Muslims that are the United States are probably just “underover” or not telling others that they are Muslims, but I could be wrong. I am just shocked that there are so many in the U.S.

hi Emily
Thank you for posting this article -it is very interesting. I hope you enjoy your experience overseas. I am a Muslim who grew up in the United States
and you are right not all of us dress in foreign clothes -many of us were born and raised here and wear regular American clothes. I wear a scarf, but I also wear jeans… Thanks again for the post! Keep up the good work!
